Literary Effects:
A literary effect describes how an audience is affected in ways that the students must assume is purposefully intended by an author through his/her use of key literary or rhetorical devices/techniques.
By identifying these effects, you are more easily able to determine the piece’s universal idea, which is also, technically, an effect.
